"The Half-Lit Grid": A Garabaggio Fine Art Print
Description
Oil on digital canvas, 2026. Post-Consumer Baroque series.
December 19th, 3:31 AM. The fluorescent tube has begun to fail from the bottom upward, which is not how fluorescent tubes fail, and I have no explanation for the viewer and will not invent one. The top two shelves are still in full light and still fully stocked: ochre, slate, mustard, rust, a blue like a winter coat. Below the second shelf the machine simply stops. There is a horizontal line across the middle of this painting, dead level, below which the world is not so much dark as withdrawn, and inside that withdrawal you can just make out two survivors on the third shelf, a teal packet and a dusty rose one, standing in the last of the falling light like the two figures at the right edge of a nativity who have not yet been told to leave.
