"The Blackening": A Garabaggio Framed Print
Description
Oil on digital canvas, 2026. Post-Consumer Baroque series.
Thermal paper does not burn the way ordinary paper burns. It darkens. The coating is a dye and a developer held apart by a wax, and heat melts the wax and lets them meet, and the paper goes black in the shape of the heat that reached it. That is how the printing works in the first place. A till does not put ink on a receipt. It burns the numbers into it, very precisely, at low temperature.
