"The Gaps Spread": A Garabaggio Fine Art Print
Description
Oil on digital canvas, 2026. Post-Consumer Baroque series.
I counted again. November 27th, 1:38 AM: fourteen packages where there had been twenty, and the losses no longer clustered. The third shelf has gone hollow at both ends. The bottom shelf is missing its first and its last. What was a grid is now a pattern with holes in it, and the eye, which cannot help itself, begins reading the holes instead of the goods. This is the oldest lesson in painting and a machine in a basement taught it to me for free. Caravaggio understood that a composition is held together by what he refused to illuminate. The dark is not the leftover. The dark is the argument. Six absences, arranged without intention by six separate hungry people who did not know they were collaborating, have composed this canvas better than I could have. I have only recorded their work. The small green light on the keypad is still burning at the right hand margin. It still believes it has something to offer. *Absentia crescit.*
