"The Freezing of the Smile": A Garabaggio Framed Print
Description
Oil on digital canvas, 2026. Post-Consumer Baroque series.
December 19th, 4:31 AM, and the cold had become a serious institution. This is the station I resisted painting for eleven days, and I will tell the viewer plainly why. The ice had stopped being a plate inside the ring and had begun growing on the ring, a crust of small crystals over every surface, so that the vinyl no longer read as vinyl but as something quarried. The body has split. There is a clean break across the lower left of the tube where the material finally gave up its tension, and the ring is no longer a ring; it is a ring that is pretending.
