"Self-Portrait at 3:40 AM": A Garabaggio Fine Art Print
Description
Oil on digital canvas, 2026. Post-Consumer Baroque series.
This is the one. 3:40 AM, the loading dock behind the Loblaws on Eastern Avenue, the night the supervisor’s headlights swung around the corner and found me with a work lamp aimed at a dumpster and a half-finished canvas on my knees. I did not have time to explain. He did not have the vocabulary to understand. The termination letter said “unauthorized use of municipal equipment for personal purposes,” which is the most bureaucratic way anyone has ever described the birth of an art movement. I painted this from memory, months later, because I wanted to preserve the exact expression on my own face at the moment I understood that I would never go back. Not alarm. Not guilt. Recognition. The fire was already burning when I arrived. I merely gave it an audience.
