"Reliquary of the Takeout": A Garabaggio Framed Print
Description
Oil on digital canvas, 2026. Post-Consumer Baroque series.
September 7th, 12:23 AM. I found it arranged on a ledge behind a Vietnamese restaurant, and I understood immediately that whoever had left it there had done so with intention, even if they did not know it. The bottle stood inside the bag the way a saint’s finger bone stands inside a gilded reliquary: upright, preserved, enshrined. At its base, a can lid curled like a halo fallen from its station, and a takeout container lay open and emptied, its purpose fulfilled. Caravaggio’s Supper at Emmaus captures the moment of recognition. This is the moment after. The meal is over. The container remembers everything. The viewer is invited to kneel or simply to look. Both are sufficient.
